My Experience at Do Ewe Knit

Do Ewe Knit describes itself as a luxury yarn boutique. I felt sophisticated walking through the doors. I just knew that I would find all types of yarn goodness within. I found the name unique and it made me smile. Can anyone guess why?? A ewe is a female sheep. What an awesome play on words. However, as a crocheter, I always feel that I am in a world dominated by knitters (no offense to you wonderful guys/gals). But all of that went out the window as soon as I entered this store. As soon as I walked through the door, I immediately felt welcome. All of my questions were answered and I picked up some beautifully colored yarns. Up until this point, I had only purchased solid colored yarns. Or yarns that changed colors to form stripes. The items that I picked up from Do Ewe Knit are completely different.

Why?

The yarn that I picked up was classified as yarn from indie dyers. An indie dyer is an independent artist that dyes yarn and is not associated with a commercial company. I was also told that most yarns are dyed in small batches. This leads to exclusive colors that may only be found at your local yarn store. What makes indie dyers so special? They are hand makers just like us. This is a cause that I can definitely keep on promoting.

But then you meet a project that requires the texture, softness, and hint of luxury that natural fibers give. You may find yourself yearning for a hand dyed yarn. Because let’s be honest, some things are better when they are done by hand. I know for me, items hold more significance when they are handmade. I have a certain respect for those who put their love, sweat, and tears into their wearable works of art.
